At the Trondheim quiltelag guild meeting in April Wenche Wolff Hatling from Northern quilts visited us and gave an inspiring talk about her work and designs. She also brought along part of her shop - and in addition to here beautiful "broderusker" (sticheries in Norwegian) she had lovely charm packs fra Moda (only NOK 129 for 42 squares!). I just had to buy the charm pack from the "Le Petit Ecole" series from the designer French General from Moda.
I puzzled 9 squares (3x3) for each placemat, and added a strip from another fabric (from the same series) of the same width as the charm squares. The remaining squares I used for applique. I traced one of the flowers on the fabric (enlarged the fabric on my scanner/printer) and fuzzy appliqued three flowers on each of the placemats (as part of the machine quilting - very fuzzy...) I really like how these flowers turned out! The fabric for the side-strip, the backing and the binding I bought at Quiltegården. Siw had nearly all the fabric from the Petite Ecole series at her shop.
All set for a nice meal with my kids. Bon appetit!
